An introduction to Instruments explained

In a free world of music there are of course many little things that are, if nothing else, just good to know about music and the instruments that we make these sounds with.

For learning, teaching, professional and aspiring musicians alike, Classic fm is to create a collaborative work with fiddlefax.co.za where we will be talking to instrument makers in and around South Africa about musical instruments, common problems and things to look out and listen for.

And, if you miss it on air you will find it all here in the fiddlefax.co.za articles to read more, gather resources and just to be informed.

In the up and coming radio discussions we will start with a general outline of what our future articles will entail regarding a fantastic world of musical instruments for the people who play and listen to them.

The discussion topics will be focused on
• Providing a brief history of the different instrument families.
• Understanding the mechanics of different instruments.
• Things to know, to look out for and common problems.
• Sharing in the views and experiences from different local & international instrument makers.
• Creating a informative instrument buyer’s guide.
• Creating an awareness of instrument care and repair.

Creating a web based information post

• Each episode will be accompanied by a comprehensive transcript, recording and visual presentation of  the last discussion.
• A forum for further questions and discussion for interested participants has been created and instrument makers from South Africa and Europe have been invited to share their views and answers.

Join in and create an informed awareness of musical knowledge.
