Teaching violin making in vernacular
the art of violin making: the journey of an assistant.


In so far as this man has walked over the challenges of life and patiently come out on the other side smiling; Joseph, known in Svend's violin studio as Giuseppe, has proven his worth and feeling for the art of violin making.

In March, some time, during 2006 I was faced with a host of instruments for some or other school that needed a goliath amount of polishing work where i suddenly thought 'hmm, what about that chap living in Ian's out quarters.

A journey began and the two of us have restored an impressive number of violins, violas, cellos and troubled basses since.

As a project it, rather quickly, became apparent that ol' Joseph needs a touch of courage and emboldment. At that, the bell rang and his reading powers bolted down to the local library every Monday and Friday morning, since.
