I started working with violins many years after bumping into one around every corner and, of cours, after being captivated by a most wonderful violinist, Libbie, who has been a fine teacher in helping me find balance and fine tone in most of the instruments that we sound post together after their repair no matter how great or small the exercise.

learning much about this art is an interesting and challenging experience that i have come to except, now, as a never ending learning curve.

I have restored or repaired over 2400 instruments in the last ten years and have attended training workshops in France, worked with other instrument makers in Italy and still learn a great deal from my piers and friends who live all over our country and particularly small globe.

Svend has 'mothered my violin for the past six or seven years. His work is flawless and he really takes care to explain the repair process to me which I really value. I always seem to have so little time but he always manages to accommodate me. He has also given me great advice for my instrument and its care as well as other prospective instruments.

I have a hand carved Hungarian double Bass that was made in the 1930's that I took to Svend for various adjustments of action and fingerboard planning. He suggested a major restoration process as the instrument had not been worked on for many years and numerous details required attention.

I decided to go with his suggestion and I am extremely pleased that I did.

The front face was removed and all cracks and structural problems were thoroughly attended to. A new beautiful tail pin was crafted and the machine heads and brass plates serviced. The surface preparation, varnish retouching and polishing made for a really stunning end result. Now the instrument is a pleasure to play. Svend considered and restored all facets of the instrument - too many to mention here. This has added hugely to the value of the instrument.

He takes pride in what he does and shares every concern of the musician. The aftercare and follow ups are great too.It has been a pleasure dealing with him and I will continue to do so. Spiro Paxinos - Double Bassist
