  1. Background All about Thembisile Buthelezi

My name is Thembisile Phumzile Buthelezi.

I got involved with the team that's learning to repair string instruments in 2007 under the supervision of Svend.

My aim was that as an aspiring string instrument player I wanted to know more about these kinds of instruments and be able to repair my own instrument as well as fix other people’s instruments.

What I’ve learned about string instruments is that they’re very sensitive and they need to be taken care of and be used sensitively and each and every instrument has its special way to produce sound (music).

When doing the work of repairing string instruments you must be familiar with measurements and know your own instrument.

You must also keep your tools in working order and sharp.

I love this job of repairing string instruments and I’m willing to learn more.
