Nico has been a freelance musician in Gauteng, playing with all the orchestras especially the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra of which he is a member, the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of South Africa as well as the Kwazulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra in Durban. |

Nico qualified as a chef at the Barnes Street Culinary Studio under renowned chef and teacher
Suzi Holtshauzen
obtaining the City and Guild’s Diploma with distinction.
When not playing or teaching
Nico also co-owns and runs a small catering business called Nico se Kombuis with his wife
Debbie.
Nico has one daughter
one cat and two dogs.

Biography All about Nico Kruger
Nico was born and grew up in Bloemfontein. He studied Double Bass with Wolfgang Nitsch and Piano with Catherine Struthers and completed his B. Mus. and B. Mus. Hons. Degrees at the University of the Orange Free State.
After a brief spell as a music teacher (while completing his B. Mus. Hons), he moved to Johannesburg to join the then National Orchestra as organizer (personnel) and Double Bass player. With the restructuring of the orchestra back into two orchestras, he continued in this position with the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO).
